I’ll be sharing some stories provided by the participants over the next week…

Klassen Blueberries is owned and operated by Ted and Celia Klassen. We specialize in growing highbush blueberries, with 35 acres planted. The picking season is from mid-July through Labour Day. Three quarters of the crop is picked by the public. We pick the other quarter of the crop to sell already picked at our store on the farm.

The farm has been owned by the Klassen family since 1960 and open to the public since 1967. The on-farm store was opened in 1996. We are not a playground, but we welcome supervised children and hope they learn about nature and food production on an actual production farm.

Our sustainable methods mean Essex County residents and their guests will be enjoying the blueberry experience at Klassen’s far into the future.

Klassen Blueberries is stop # 24 for Explore the Shore 2011 and can be found at 954 County Road 50 East.
